In Loving Memory of Verl Alldredge September 6,1918 - September 5, 2008
Don't grieve for me for now I m free.
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found the peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A memory shared, a laugh , a kiss,
O yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wis you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full,
I savored much,
Good family, good times, a loved one's touch
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee.
God wanted meno
He set me Free

Dear Family,
I wanted to thank everyone that was here to help me the last few weeks before the passing of my Dear Sweet Companion of 68 years. He appreciated your being here and helping him. All the medication you had to give him for the restless nights you spent helping him and allowing me to go to bed. even if I was up and down watching him too.
For Alan coming over to go to the Temple on his 46th Birthday and instead helping us take him to the Dr. to find out he had had a slight stroke. The Hospital bed was brought in the living room to put him in for the rest of his life and for the Special Blessing that was given him to release him from this earthly life with Jerry as mouth piece and all the rest there also to pray for it also. That was Thursday Sept 4th He passed away Fri Morning Sept 5th Very peaceful and suddenly. I walked from his bed into the Kitchen Nancy came and told me he was gone. Darlene and Nancy and Evonne took good care of him. Darlene wrote the article for the paper all was Wonderful.
Thanks Nancy for the money to clean the carpet also we got Dad's chair cleaned. Thanks to all you that cleaned my living room and kitchen.
The Funeral was very nice All the family that was here. We sure filled the chapel and the Service was so nice. Everyone taking part. What a Wonderful Family you all are.
There was even some Mt. Trumbull soil put under his casket so to say he was laid to rest o Mt. Trumbull soil. How Wonderful every thing and every body was. Thank you all Very Much.

Dear Family,
My newsletter for this month is mostly the pictures and a page from Mom and Dad's book that follow this bit of gibberish. How blessed we are to be the children and grand children of Verl and Ada Alldredge. I don't feel pain as you often due at the loss of someone you love so much. There is peace, but also a longing for his company, his stories, his laughing so hard a t his won joke, his bits of advice and just having him there. But there is comfort in not seeing him in that chair; so uncomfortable, discouraged at not being able to do for others, often feeling so useless.
We had the blessing here where Mom and Dad could be with us at every family get-together; family nights at Chuch-O-Rama, baptisms, Home Evenings, birthday parties, Christmas Nativity night, Talent night, (They loved watching the grandkids perform. To them, it was perfection even if the grandchild had only been taking piano for a month or two or if it was standing on their head while we all counted), swimming parties at Milton and Natalies's and spending time at the farm watching as the kids work with their animals and having a hotdog roast. Dad said he really didn't like hotdogs, but at the farm they tasted really good. Must have been that mixture of the smell of the farm, the dust and the burnt spot on the hotdog. This las year, he didn't feel like cooking his won, so the grandkids cooked it for him. Sometimes it was cold and sometimes it was burnt, but the kid who cooked it was proud that they had cooked grandpa's hotdog just the way he liked it!
This year was the first year since we started doing the Livestock show, about 12 years ago, that Mom and Dad weren't at the show, all three days. They wanted to come, but it was just too much for Dad to get there from the car. They were missed, not only by us, but others who were used to seeing them there.
I went with Mom to church on Sunday after the funeral. It was Fast Meeting in their ward. It turned into a tribute to Mom and Dad. What an honor to be there with here. One man told her to move over, she was sitting in Dad's chair. She said she didn't think Dad would care, but the last two weeks she has put her books on Dad's chair and she sits in her own.
Mom is a spiritual giant. She has such inner strenght and peace. I'm grateful for her example. I want to be like her. We went to Bajio's ( a Mexican restaurant) last week. Not her kind of food, but she was willing to try it. That took courage.
Now I want to tell you a story, I know Dad would like it, in fact I can hear him laughing, so this one is for you Dad;
On Thursday night we went to the Rodeo with Scott, Gayla and family and Kristen and family. Five-year old Shakell was sitting in front of us and her heans were pull down, like jeans do today and part of her little hinny was exposed. Gayla said,"Shakell, your bottom is showing, have your pants been like that all day." Shakell said, "Oh yeah, this boy told me my bottom was showing and I told him thanks for noticing!" We think she was thanking him so she could pull her pants up.
Since Dad's not here to do it here goes his advice.... Listen to the Prophet, live the commandments and get out of debt! And remember when he said to have plenty of toilet paper, because you could trade a roll for milk, well maybe now is the time. He and Mom lived through though times and they are wise. Let's all heed their advise!
Love you all more than words can tell
